The frequent use of icons and graphics as a shortcut at an early age can seriously hinder a child’s ability to learn reading and writing in a way that will enable him to develop advanced communication abilities.

Gradual Introduction of Computer Skills

A computerized environment can be a great learning tool, if it is introduced at the right stage. Even if the assumption that early computerization will hinder a pupil’s ability to acquire language skills is wrong, it won’t hurt to wait a few years and gradually introduce a computerized classroom environment after the age of nine. While it is true that computerization almost always makes a teacher’s work easier and improves children participation, there is still a lot of doubt among experts about its advantages. Perhaps we still need to give the old fashioned teaching methods another chance, at least for our younger pupils.
